Biography

Laura was born in Cheltenham, but now lives in the Marlborough area. She has sung from a very early age and started flute lessons at the age of 7, going on to learn saxophone and piano.

Laura trained as a musician at the University of Southampton, where she went on to achieve both an honours degree and masters in Music. Laura has performed regularly throughout her lifetime, particularly during wedding ceremonies.

Laura completed her PGCE in secondary music teaching at University of Gloucestershire, and passed this with distinction, confirming that sharing her love of music was her purpose in life.

Laura has taught Music, Performing Arts and Music Technology in comprehensive secondary schools for six years and her lessons are consistently of a high quality; her teaching was graded ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED.

Laura now teaches Music in primary schools, whilst also teaching students of all ages and abilities on a one-to-one basis. She offers instrumental lessons on all of her specialist instruments, whilst also supporting pupils with music theory, GCSE, BTEC and A Level Music. More recently, she has been teaching in an independent school for students with asperger’s syndrome.

Laura has over 10 years experience studying, performing and teaching music at a high level with the following qualifications:

PGCE Music, Secondary Education.

MMus.

BA Mus.

Laura is a member of the Musicians’ Union and is also Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checked.
